There is a research committee within the structure of the missionary axis of this research department.This committee takes it upon itself to define and authorize any research projects proposed by the professorate and the research groups affiliated to the faculty, all through research lines approved by the vice-chancellor of investigations’ office.

These research lines are as follows:

·         Agro-industrial applications for bio-diversity.

·         Micro-propagation of agro-industrially relevant fruits through In-Vitro growing techniques.

·         Leguminous plants and fodder from tropical areas.

·         Pesticides on potentially exportable tropical fruits.

·         Agro-industrial post-harvest process for potentially exportable tropical fruits.

·         Non-conventional technologies applied to the agrarian industry.

The Faculty of Agro-Industrial Sciences features 3 research groups which have been registered in the vice-chancellor of investigations’ office and in the COLCIENCIAS institute:

·         Food Technology and Science (CYTA)

·         Agro-Industrial Sciences Research Group (GICA)

·         Agricultural and Livestock Sciences Research Group (GICAP)

These groups take students from the faculty majors in accordance with the Research Department Rules and Regulations document.

The faculty currently subscribes to the policies of the “seedbed” research programs and, through its open calls for volunteers (which are issued by the vice-chancellor of investigations’ office), it will generate a student participation space within it.

The “seedbed” research programs are developed through the following phases:

·         Phase I, in which research’s principles and basic concepts are integrated in each subject.

·         Phase II, in which a specific-line research project with interdisciplinary connection possibilities is consolidated.

·         Phase III, in which the research project is carried out.
